abxylute S9 Type-C Mobile Gaming Controller Retro Grey Edition

I have nothing but praise for this product. It has met and exceeded my expectations.

As someone who loves handheld gaming I prefer to game wherever possible without being sat in front of a console or a bulky PC. I've owned and reviewed a number of Handheld PCs that promise to replace my desktop experience with varying success.

What I've always wanted was a device dedicated to remotely accessing my PC/Xbox/Playstation, I've tried this via various non-dedicated handhelds over the years with varying success so I had high hopes for the Abxylute. Obviously the closest comparison is the Logitech G-cloud, but that wasn't available in my market until recently (and have you seen how much more expensive the Logitech is). There is the Sony handheld coming soon (but currently all we know is its dedicated to PS5).

On hearing about the Abxylute I was very interested. I signed up Day One on the Kickstarter and chancing my luck I asked if I could review an early unit on Youtube.

In my picture you can see the Black DVT2 unit Abxylute (playing Spider-Man on PS4) that Abxylute were kind enough to send me back in April to review, I've put in 100's of hours "testing" (Okay, so dozen of hours testing and hundreds just enjoying myself😉).

My White unit arrived last week, and I couldn't wait to set it up and enjoy some AAA gaming, or my favourite game of the Summer Dave the Diver. In the months I've had my Abxylute I've used it to play PC games, PS4 games I've never had time to play and Xbox games.

I generally game at home but I've successfully used the Abxylute when travelling over wifi and 5G connections. You can also play Android games natively, and the Abxylute can emulate up to PSP pretty well. Even if you're stuck with no internet connection, or you're just trying to maximize battery life on a long trip you won't be stuck with a brick that you can't use. Ergonomics are good, screen is beautiful and battery life has put all my other handheld devices to shame with typical 8+ battery life.

One highlight of the Ergonomics is I find it very comfortable to hold, I have relatively long fingers and even though its considerably slimmer than all of my handheld PCs, with no bulk grips on the back its very comfortable to hold for long game sessions. The weight is probably a contributing factor too as the unit is lighter than any handheld PC I have.

My kids also love the Abxylute as it suits their smaller hands too. Its a glowing reference when they say its more comfortable to hold than a Switch lite which is designed for smaller hands.
