Fantastic gaming experience for any device you can imagine!

The abxylute S8 has been my unexpected favorite bit of tech in 2025 by far. I've been testing it on the Switch 2, Galaxy Fold 6 and iPhone 16 Pro. The controller is solidly put together with a nice backing where a device sits, and rubber bumpers on the sides where the controller clamps. It paired with each device very easily - The Switch was an instant connection from the "change grip/order" screen and both the iPhone and Galaxy connected in X-input mode with no hiccups. The face buttons are quiet and have a nice click to them, and remappable paddles on the back work nicely. The triggers work perfectly as analog inputs for things like Gamecube emulation or racing games, full-sized analog sticks are accurate and comfy, and the D-pad feels great and has good diagonals (I've spent more time with the traditional D-pad, but the disc-style one feels nice too.) Ergonomics are seriously comfortable too. It opens wide enough for the Switch without straining and closes small enough to clamp nicely on a phone. Vibration works nicely, and no stick-drift or cardinal snapping for the analog sticks. The abxylute app is nicely polished and adds some extra functionality for remapping. On android, all inputs work perfectly in X-input mode. Emulators with auto-mapping worked immediately and manually remapping worked as you'd expect too. Native android gaming on games with controller support has no issues either. As far as iOS goes, X-input worked perfect too. Resident Evil Village and Genshin Impact both worked with their in-built controller support. I detected no noticeable input lag in my gaming sessions, which was nice.My favorite use case for the S8 has definitely been Switch 2 gaming in handheld mode. It connected right away once put into Nintendo pairing mode, and has no issues staying connected or reconnecting afterwards. It's much more comfortable than the joycons, giving you much better grip and controls. An unexpected awesome feature for me is being able to place the switch off-center in the controller. Doing that raises the screen up a bit which puts less strain on my neck in handheld mode. It shifts the weight balance a bit too, which can be more comfy based on your preference, though I'm used to it from gaming on the Galaxy Fold personally. Since the connection is Bluetooth, you can also use the Switch in tabletop/kickstand mode and use the controller on its own. It's more comfortable than the joycons attached to a grip, and you don't need to carry an additional piece of hardware with you. I'll also make a note that my Switch 2 has the D Brand Killswitch case on it. It's pretty thick, but the S8 can still clamp on the console with no problems. I find the S8 setup more comfortable than the D Brand grips. Also, the controller doesn't make contact with the joycon magnet "rails" so it won't cause any wear or damage to them (no matter how you choose to place the switch in the S8.)Overall I've been seriously impressed with the build quality and value of the S8, especially at a lower price than any other premium telescopic controller. The extra software compatibility with multiple devices is a game changer for me, and I can't imagine going back to a Backbone or Razer Kishi setup after having one controller that works with all my devices. I highly recommend it!

One of the best on the market

I bought a Galaxy Z Fold 7, and one of my friends suggested I get a mobile controller so that I can play games on the big screen. I saw this one and took a chance despite not hearing of the brand before.. and all I can say is WOW!Buckle in because this might just be my longest review to date. For starters, absolutely nothing on this controller feels cheap. It all feels, looks, and operates just as good if not better than my Xbox elite controller. The Dpad and the buttons on the back have a satisfying mechanical click to them. Speaking of the Dpad, they include a spare one out of the box that allows for better diagonal controls! The bumpers and triggers have textured grips as well, and the analogs have a nice concave and are also grippy around the edges. The purple accent isn't my favorite, but is still attractive. Even the bed which your phone lays against is rubberized to prevent your phone from slipping out of the controller. It truly feels good in the hand, and you don't NEED their app to use it. (I do recommend it so you can remap buttons.)The absolute best thing about this controller is the fact that it is Bluetooth. This means that my z fold 7 can be inserted in any orientation. I don't have to rely on it being plugged in over USB-c. I can even pair this to my PC if I wanted to. This also opens the door to different pairing modes. If the game you're playing doesn't support an android controller, change it by pressing A, B, X, or Y and tapping the home button. The different colors represent different controller types. You can easily switch to Xbox, PS, or Switch! Genius!I haven't tested it yet but there is a built in mic, gyroscope for racing games, and trigger macro so you can spam to your heart's galore. I'm currently browsing the play store to find games that will put those functions to the test - but I'm yet to be disappointed with this product. If I absolutely need to mention a con, it's the box that it comes in. Just a generic brown box that says it's a game controller.. but what's inside the box is just as good as those mobile controllers that fetch for well over $100.The only other thing worth mentioning is that the USB-c charging port for the controller itself is inside the right grip. It doesn't seem to get in the way or anything but the included cable is a little too short and is not braided. Thankfully I have a million USB-c cables anyway, so it's not a deal breaker for me.TLDR: If you're new to mobile gaming like me, take a chance. You won't be disappointed!

Works great with the Legion Go Gen 1

This is a great alternative for the Gen1 Legion Go. It fits very snug and secure. The DPad is amazing. I play a lot of Fighting Games like Tekken and Street Fighter. I use the DPad 99% of the time. The default controls on the Legion Go are fine but the DPad is very slick. The DPad on the Abxylute S8 is matte. Only unfortunate part is that it doesn't extend far enough for larger tablets. Definitely great for cell phones, small tablets, etc.

Awesome controller for phone, Switch 2 and other handheld devices

This is a top tier controller for portable systems. I tested with my iPhone Pro Max and the Switch 2. It hold them very well in the spring loaded grips that have rubber padding to hold tight in your device and prevents slipping. The S8 controller has a very nice grippy feel but is smooth and feels good in your hands at the same time. The buttons have a very satisfying click when you press down on them and Th e joysticks have just the right amount of resistance to make them feel great while moving around in games but not stress out your finger muscles. Overall this is a fantastic controller option and I can highly recommend it.

Switching Between Devices Is Simple

Having tried a bunch of mobile controllers, I have to say the Abxylute S8 immediately impressed me, especially when I compare it to something like the X5S. The larger grip makes a tangible difference for anyone with bigger hands — holding it feels natural, and long gaming sessions don’t leave your fingers cramped or sore. It’s clear that the ergonomics were designed with comfort in mind, which isn’t always the case with other telescopic controllers on the market.Price-wise, the S8 sits in a sweet spot. It’s not cheap, but for what you get, it’s very reasonable. The build quality feels solid and durable, with no flimsy plastic parts or wobbly buttons. Everything from the triggers to the analog sticks has a reassuringly premium feel. I’ve owned the S9 previously, and that controller left a lasting impression on me. The ergonomics on the S9 were near-perfect, making it the most comfortable telescopic controller I’ve ever used, and the S8 carries that same attention to human-centered design forward.Feature-wise, the S8 doesn’t hold anything back. Hall effect joysticks, linear triggers, programmable rear buttons, and a dedicated screenshot button — it really has the core features that serious mobile gamers expect. Even for games that require precision or rapid response, the controller performs flawlessly. On top of that, the companion app is exceptionally well done. From its polished interface to the intuitive game library management, you can tell it was crafted with the resources and expertise of a major company. It makes customization and mapping a seamless experience, which really enhances gameplay. If I had one wish, it would be for a more budget-friendly option in the Abxylute lineup. While the S8 is worth every penny, a slightly pared-down version for gamers who don’t need all the high-end features could make the brand accessible to a wider audience. The Abxylute S8 strikes a strong balance between comfort, functionality, and build quality. It’s the kind of controller that makes you want to sit down and play for hours, and it clearly demonstrates that Abxylute understands both ergonomics and the demands of mobile gaming. For anyone serious about portable gaming, it’s a standout choice.
